Our history

Mostatxins gets its name from a Mallorcan word meaning “moustache”. It was named after the old village butcher, who was well known for his curious moustache and was given the nickname “the one with the moustache”. Before becoming a hotel, the 15th-century building had a number of different uses, from watchtower to local butcher’s shop.

Our building Quince

Dates back to the 15th century, and the tower where the Tower Suite and Tower Executive are located dates back to the 13th century, making it one of the oldest remaining architectural treasures in the town of Alcúdia. The renovation took six long years to complete with great care and attention to detail. This medieval marvel houses a total of 8 rooms and a courtyard that will leave you lost for words, with a pool/jacuzzi, massage area, relaxation area with a small coffee and tea corner, and the reception. All rooms feature an original stone wall and a warm décor.

Our adjacent building Frare

Dates from the 19th century, another jewel in our collection. The original doors, the stone floor of the restaurant, the main staircase and the entire majestic structure have been preserved in this building. It was purchased and renovated by our founder who wanted to be able to share the Mostatxins experience with even more guests. In Frare, we find the breakfast area and bar, an inner courtyard, where you can sunbathe or relax in our pool/jacuzzi, and 11 rooms guarded by figures painted by 19th-century Spanish artists. We owe all this ingenuity and drive to deliver a complete experience to our founder, Mark Worthington, who sadly passed away in 2019. It is with great pride and affection that we continue his legacy.
